    Abstract

Undeniably, the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected not only the Philippine economy but also its educational system. Educators and teachers alike needed to adapt in the current situation to continue the learning of the students. The first paper of this session evaluates the readiness for college of Filipino senior high school learners based on their achievements scores in English, Science, and Mathematics, which includes Statistics and Probability, given that these students have been affected by the sudden shift of mode of delivery in teaching and learning during the pandemic. Because of the pandemic, the teachers were compelled to use the available resources to effectively enhance students’ learning. The second paper investigated students’ autonomy and perception of using prerecorded instructional videos in learning statistics and probability. Teaching statistics on an online distance learning mode is particularly challenging as it is so much more when mentoring and advising students on their research projects in statistics. To address this, the third paper discusses an online instructional strategy for enhancing research capabilities of students. It elaborates on project-based online learning, which was utilized to guide the students in making their final research papers in various statistics courses. These three papers are interconnected by examining how the pandemic has impacted the student learning and teaching of statistics and probability. While there has been learning loss, this has been mitigated by the teachers who have done their best to adjust their classroom instruction to ensure that student learning is not disrupted.
