Woman's Awareness towards the Environmental Pollution in Egypt

Abstract

The woman's awareness and its behavior towards the environmental pollution problem in Egypt (urban and rural areas) is an important issue to be checked through the role of the woman in the society with the commitment of the Egyptian Government to continue its tireless efforts to address climate change along with empowering Egyptian women in various fields .
Egypt has established its National Council for Climate Change headed by the Prime Minister, there is a gender unit in the Environmental Affairs Agency and an equal opportunity unit in the Ministry of Environment working in cooperation with the National Council for Women.
The study tries to test the hypotheses that: First: the women with high levels of educational level and who employed have more awareness and a better attitude towards the environmental pollution than the others with low education level and no job. Second: the awareness is higher among women who live in urban than rural areas.
The study used the sample survey method with volume of 300 women distributed equally between urban and rural areas with consideration to the population intensive in urban than rural areas in Egypt .
The most important sample's description that the most of the women are married in the age interval 40-50 with household's members range 3-5 persons, the unemployment rate attain 22.7% (urban), while it was 26.0% (rural), the ratio of literacy compasses 27.5% (rural), while it compasses 23.2% (urban), the volume of the household was 3-5 persons in the most of the sample (both rural and urban areas).
The study concluded that low level of the awareness related to Global warming and Greenhouse gases, Pesticide pollute the internal Environment and Scratched Tefal Vassal exist in the most of the sample, the awareness related to spread of deceases, was in the urban areas, and in the rural areas, and more than 50.0% of the sample does know nothing about the pollution of the internal environment.
The study concluded that low level of the woman's awareness about the Global warming and Greenhouse gases, while the awareness relatively high about to spread of deceases due to the pollution of the internal environment.
