Abstract

In the new data eco-system statistical processes must be faster and incorporate novel data sources to meet the expanding user´s needs. At the same time, National Statistical Offices have the responsibility to maintain the credibility of outputs by ensuring quality of official statistics. To achieve this dual goal, some of the regular quality management procedures should be maintained, others must be transformed, and new quality indicators ought to be introduced to measure new inputs and outputs. Mexico’s NSO (INEGI) has defined a quality management system based on three strategic activities: standardize, assess, and improve. This presentation will share the main challenges in adapting INEGI’s ongoing quality framework to make ends meet in the context of digital transformation.
