Toward an improvement of the sampling framework of the Moroccan time use survey

Abstract

Morocco is one of the countries that have conducted surveys specifically to measure time use. The last one was carried out in 2012 measuring the daily activities patterns of women, men and children. This study proposes to analyze the sampling framework of the time use survey 2012 (TUS2012). The sampling framework for time use surveys must ensure an appropriate representativeness of persons and at the same time of the period of time since activities may vary considerably in the same person from day to day, from season to season and from one person to another. The selection of persons and diary days in TUS2012 was defined, of course, according to the survey objectives and cost; nevertheless we try in this paper to analyze these choices in order to raise some selection aspects incorporating the Moroccan context and the international recommendations allowing conducting more detailed analyses of the Moroccan society for the future surveys.
