Abstract

The quality in statistical product can be defined as the fitness for purpose of that product to the following five quality dimensions: relevance, accuracy and reliability, timeliness and punctuality, accessibility and clarity, and coherence and comparability. One of the most important quality standards in statistical data is Coherence and comparability. It is the degree to which data derived from different sources or methods is similar and the degree to which data can be compared over time and domain and that achieve fourth Principle of the Code of Practice for Official Statistics.
Internal migration defined as the geographical moving of individuals within country’s borders. There are several types of internal migration ; This subject has a reflection on many other issues such as the population density at source and destination, human resources, highly skilled persons and many others.
This paper will present a comparative study of internal migration in Egypt 2017. By comparing the data of the Labor Force Survey(LFS) 2017, which carried out on a representative sample of 90,000 households with Egyptian population, housing and establishment Census 2017, which used a long form questionnaire (10% sample) to collect data for 2 million households. A comparison between demographic characteristics of migrant individuals such as educational status, marital status, age groups, employment status, and migrant’s occupation in time of moving. Also, study the reasons for their migration by applying analytical study on these data. So the quality of official statistics is achieved through the comparability of data between Census and LFS, and capability of linking databases to increase the reliability of the statistical product, which is a new trend for quality in statistical production.
