Abstract

DDI has been used for many years at Insee to allow survey managers to precisely specify their questionnaires. These DDI specifications then feed a fully automated process that produces survey instruments for various collection modes. This DDI-powered production process now covers three quarters of Insee's surveys and produces around one million questionnaires each year. In more recent developments, DDI is tested for the automation of the survey process and for the ingestion of administrative data.
