Abstract

National Statistical Offices are operating in a new data world, with data available at a much faster pace and in greater abundance. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the rate of this change, with high-pressure demands for real time data to inform the public and policy making, and with an overcrowding in the population of data providers. Quality has always been a pillar of NSOs work - but new challenges are now coming up in this new landscape. This presentation will reflect on timeliness compared to the other quality dimensions, as well as discussing how we can assess timeliness and what fitness for purpose mean in this new world.
