Abstract
In consultation with national partners (data producers and users), the ILO reviewed labour migration information systems in selected countries (Djibouti, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia) from 2019 to 2022. In each country, the focus was to diagnose the status of national statistical system on labour migration statistics with a view to assessing its alignment with international standards, in particular the 19th ICLS guidelines concerning international labour migration statistics. Then, there was an attempt to outline a strategy towards an integrated labour migration information system. The basis for this strategy was to put in place a network of institutions and persons that have mutually recognized roles, agreements, and functions with respect to the production, storage, dissemination and use of data in order to maximise the potential for relevant and applicable policy and programme formulation and implementation in the area of labour migration. As a result, collaboration between data producers and users have been enhanced through assessing existing data sources to improve statistics for better governance of labour migration.
