Abstract

In mid-2022 the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) released its first Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy. Building the strategy allowed the IDF to succeeded in transforming its mindset that data and AI are more than technological assets but are crucial capabilities that meet the basic mission of the IDF – Defense. The vision of a multi-dimensional battlefield is not new; however, with advancements in data, statistics and AI, we identified the digital domain as a new dimension that is key to ensure a strategic advantage. Data and AI are the new weapon in the digital domain that could affect real lives. Brigadier General (BGen) Dagan will describe the steps towards fulfillment of the strategy, and will share the challenges the IDF faces on its path to success. During the talk, BGen Dagan will share examples from the ground: Data Factories, Fire Factory, leveraging data to recruit and retain top performers, and the infrastructure that supports the broad connectivity and data analysis.
